This course is designed for those aspiring to manage the full lifecycle of water infrastructure assets with a forward-looking, technology-driven approach. As a Water Infrastructure Manager, students will learn how to oversee physical water assets from planning and development through to operation and maintenance—ensuring efficiency, longevity, and return on investment.

The course introduces modern tools such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), showing how these technologies can automate infrastructure monitoring and support proactive, preventative maintenance. Students will also gain insight into the strategic planning frameworks that guide infrastructure development, including the Water Services Development Plan (WSDP), Integrated Development Plan (IDP), and Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act (SPLUMA) plans.

By the end of the course, learners will understand how to align infrastructure decisions with municipal spatial plans and policies to support long-term water sustainability and improved service delivery.
